    Gujarat: the stunning state located on the west coast of India is one of the most popular destinations in the country. The state is renowned for its legends, such as Babu (Mahatma Gandhi), and for its cultural, historical, artisanal wealth and its countless tourist attractions. In addition to being one of the most industrialised regions of India, Gujarat is also a major tourist centre of the nation. A land of romance, vibrant colours, charisma, and infinite natural beauty, Gujarat never fails to charm its many visitors.

    Detailed Programme


    Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad

    A driver will welcome you at Ahmedabad airport. He will take you to your hotel. Settle in for 2 nights.

    The evening according to free time visit Adalaj Step-well: 17kms It is located to the north of Ahmedabad. The stepwell in the village of Adalaj is another beautiful example of this magnificent architectural form. Adalaj Vav is richly carved, every surface of the pillar and wall covered with leaves and flowers, birds and fish, and friezes of ornamental patterns.

    Day 2: Visit to Ahmedabad

    Visit the old town and its highlights of Islamic art: Start your day by visiting Swaminarayan Temple: A religious worship followed by the followers of Swami-Narayan. This temple is a good example of exquisite wood carving. Next, visit Jumma Masjid - the most beautiful mosque in the east. Built of yellow sandstone, after that visit the Siddi Saiyed Mosque, a superb and unparalleled example of delicate carving that transforms stone into filigree. In the afternoon, visit ATMA House (LE CORBUSIER): The current office building of ATMA is a modern monument and a reference in the history of architecture.

    Day 3: Departure for Kutch, visiting Patan and Modhera en route

    After breakfast, you take the road to the Little Rann of Kutch: shaped by the flooding of seawater and rivers during the monsoon. On the way, stop at Patan, where you will visit the magnificent stepwell of the Queen (Rani-ki-Vav) dating back to around 1075. It was intended to serve practical functions (water storage) and spiritual ones (purification rites). Then continue to Modhera to visit the Sun Temple, designed like that of Konark in Orissa (although it is older). Arrival at the Little Rann of Kutch and check into the hotel for 2 nights:

    Day 4: Morning Safari in the Rann of Kutch

    In the morning at 0600 by car/jeep to go to the Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary.

    The highlight of this sanctuary is the Asian wild ass or 'Gudkhur', which is endemic to the region and is one of the most endangered species in the world. It is also a paradise for birdwatchers.

    In the afternoon, a visit to the neighbouring tribes of Dasada. The Rabari in Gujarat, as mysterious as any other tribe, whose way of life has intrigued many researchers. Related to Shiva, who according to legend, descended into their ancestor Sambal, they are one of the last nomadic peoples in the world. The men, tall and thin, often with long moustaches, have their heads wrapped in turbans mainly of light colours, wearing tight white trousers at the ankles and a jacket, also white, fitted and with a pleated chest. As a distinctive sign, they wear a gold filigree earring in their ear.

    Day 5: Kutch – Bhuj

    Have breakfast and then you take the road to Bhuj with your driver. Bhuj: located in the heart of Kutch, an ancient kingdom that became part of Gujarat at the independence of India. This region, neighbouring Pakistan, is home to a diverse population, resulting from ethnic mixing (of Rajasthani, Sindhi, Afghan origin... nomadic or semi-nomadic tribes, etc.). The city of Bhuj has beautiful monuments, which have unfortunately been affected by an earthquake in 2001. En route vous pouvez faire des petites haltes pour observer quelques-unes des caravanes de Rabari.  Et demander a votre chauffeur de vous emmener le village de Dhamadka pour voir les ateliers de sérigraphie de la tribu Khatri qui sont excellents dans l’art d’impression sur les textiles.

    Once arrived in Bhuj, check into the hotel. Then, depending on the time, visit historical monuments such as Darbargadh and the Pragmahal Palace, the royal cenotaph, and the Aina Mahal Museum. Aina Mahal is a unique example of an Indian palace built in the mid-18th century, with European influence.

    Day 6: Bhuj - Hodka (Artists' Village)

    After breakfast, departure for Hodka (Please obtain a permit for 02 days from Bhrandyiara post cheque).

    On the way, stop at Nirona village and you will discover Rogan painting. It is a fabric painting, made of cotton and silk. The Rogan art of Nirona village is the rarest in the world.

    Arrival in Hodka where you will explore its typical village houses, meet various artisan families, and admire the finest styles of embroidery and leather craftsmanship. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Day 7: Hodka - Rajkot - Gondal

    Early in the morning, departure for Gondal, with a visit to the city of Rajkot on the way, the former capital of the princely state of Saurashtra. Mr Gandhi spent the early years of his life there, and the family home that you will visit has today been transformed into a museum and also houses a small cotton weaving school in tribute to Gandhi. Continue to Gondal, in the centre of Gujarat, and check in at the hotel. Le soirée visite de Gondal, Une jolie petite ville verdoyante, Cette ville regorge d'anciens palais du XVIIe siècle. Vous y visiterez ses belles temples et le palais de Navlakha : situé face à la rivière. Ce bâtiment imposant, de plus de 30 mètres de haut est un des plus vieux et des plus beaux de Gondal. Nuit dans un des ses anciens palais converti en hôtel.

    Day 8: Gondal - Gunagarh - Sasangir

    Today, depart for Sasan Gir, and on the way, stop at Junagadh, an ancient fortified city at the foot of the sacred Girnar mountain. It is a fascinating city, extremely well-preserved and off the tourist trails. At the top, you can visit the Uparkot citadel, which houses the "Nilamtope," a cannon measuring 5 metres in length, as well as two step wells (baoli) and Buddhist caves that are at least 1500 years old.

    Continue on to Sasan Gir, the last place in the world where you can still observe Asiatic lions in the wild. Settle into the hotel for 2 nights.

    Day 9: Safari in Sasan Gir Park

    Today is a day of relaxation in this beautiful peaceful environment. You will go on Jeep safaris in the morning and evening in the last refuge of the Asiatic lions, discovering the local wildlife. You will have the pleasure of observing other animals such as gazelles, antelopes, leopards, crocodiles, monkeys, as well as many species of birds.

    Day 10: Sasan Gir - Somnath - Diu

    Today, after breakfast, you will take the road to Diu (a small island in the Gulf of Kutch). On the way, you will visit the Somnath temple (built by the seaside), which houses one of the twelve jyoti lingas of India! Dedicated to Shiva. Then continue to Diu and relax at the hotel facing the sea.

    Day 11: Diu - Palitana

    Departure for Palitana, the most important Jain pilgrimage site. After checking in at the hotel, visit the sacred hill of Shatrunjaya, a major Jain pilgrimage site that houses over 800 temples built over 1000 years. (Ascend on foot or by palanquin, using the 3500 steps that lead to all the Jain temples).

    Day 12: Palitana - Lothal - Vadodara

    After breakfast, depart for Vadodara. On the way, visit the archaeological site of Lothal, which was a major trading port for Mesopotamia and Egypt. The remains of an ancient prosperous civilisation of the Indus have been found there. Then continue to Vadodara (Baroda). It is an important student, scientific, and industrial hub, thanks to the progressive impetus given by the Maharaja of Baroda at the end of the 19th century. The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MS University) is the architectural jewel of the city, blending local influences with Victorian style.

     Day 13: Varodara - Champaner - Jambhughoda 


    On the way to Jambughoda, you stop at: Pavagadh – Champaner; it combines prehistoric sites (still buried), an ancient Hindu capital, and the remnants of the city that was the capital of Gujarat in the 16th century (a pre-Mughal Islamic city), not to mention the Kalikamata temple, which is still frequented by pilgrims. The coexistence of ancient sites and living cultural heritage, along with the fusion of Hindu-Muslim architecture, gives the whole area an exceptional character. Poursuit la route vers Jambughoda.     Day 14: Jambhugoda and surroundings

    In the morning, you will have the option to take an excursion to Chotta Udaipur and the characteristic villages of the Bhil and Rathwa. Chotta Udaipur - the essence of the town, however, is that it is located in the heart of a tribal area with a rich indigenous history and culture. Jour 15 : Jambhugoda -  Ahmedabad 

    Last day of your trip, After breakfast you take the road to Ahmedabad. Check-in at the hotel. In the evening you can take a stroll around the city or relax at the hotel.

    Day 16 - Departure  


    Your driver will drop you off at Ahmedabad airport 3 hours before your departure.
