Colombo – Negombo – Norochcholai – Dambula – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa- Kucklesss – Nuwra Eliya – Ella – Udawalawe – Mirissa – Galle – Colombo.
Day 1: Arrival in Colombo and transfer to Negombo.
You will be welcomed by a representative of the Insolite Lanka agency upon your arrival at Colombo Airport (Katunayake) and transferred to Negombo.
Day 2: Visit to the city of Negombo
In the morning you can visit the fish market in Negombo. In the late afternoon, enjoy a boat excursion to see the flora and fauna at Muthurajawela Marshlands. Indeed, it is the ideal place for this kind of activity as the marsh is remarkable for its unique and highly diverse ecosystem and is part of the 12 priority wetland areas of Sri Lanka. The region is home to 192 species of flora and 209 species of fauna. You will have the opportunity to see the daily routine of the local traditional fisherman. For your information, "Muthurajawela" translates to "Marsh of the Royal Treasure".
Day 3 : Negombo - Baththalangunduwa- Kalpitiya -
After breakfast, depart for Kalpitiya then you take the boat to the island of Baththalangunduwa by speedboat (1 hour, 1 hour 30 minutes).
Baththalangunduwa is an island located 38 km from Kalpitiya. For years, the residents of Chilaw, Negombo and Puttalam have been visiting this island for the fishing industry. You can discover the daily life of local fishermen. They have built their own fishing huts (Wadiya) and they run their industry. However, although this is primarily a fishing island, after lunch return to Kalpitiya and visit a bit of the town of Kalpitiya.
Day 4: Kalpitiya/Anuradhapura/Sigiriya
Today depart for Sigiriya, on the way visit Anuradhapura, a wonderful archaeological site that is a UNESCO World Heritage site and delights tourists who love history and legends. Then you continue to Sigiriya and check into the hotel.
Day 5: Visit to Sigiriya and Dambula
In the morning after breakfast, you will discover the Lion Rock of Sigiriya, one of the most visited attractions in Sri Lanka. It is as rich in natural beauty as it is in history. The ancient city of Sigiriya is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is among the wonders of the world.
Then you set off to explore Dambulla, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its Buddhist caves perched atop a hill. You can admire incredible murals, statues of Buddha, all scattered across 5 caves. Also enjoy the beautiful panorama of the surroundings. Then check into your hotel in Sigiriya.
Day 6: Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa
Departure for Polonnaruwa, an ancient city that was the royal capital of Sri Lanka during the 11th and 12th centuries. This visit extends over about 10 km2. We can visit the ruins of palaces, of temples, but especially Kalu Gal Vihara, a set of 4 Buddha statues carved from granite.. The archaeological museum is also worth a visit.
